Dano
Pendygrasse.
Media, Photography and more.
In 2009 I worked with
Monster Energy
and
Grenade
to transform the Grenade Games and bring them to
the
Telus World Ski and Snowboard
Festival
in Whistler, BC. We took the one day event, and
transformed it into five days and nights of
contests and parties, and then set out to make
sure everyone knew about it.
Tasked with putting together a media strategy and team, I built a crew of cinematographers, editors, photographers, and web developers to create and distribute media content. Each day we created two unique movies, blog entries, and hundreds of photos. Distribution relied on an extensive network of contacts in the action sports industry and the results were unprecedented. From the biggest magazines, to Fuel TV, and hundreds of independent web sites.
In creating abundant, quality content that was freely available to use by all media, from national network to local bloggers, we managed to raise the profile of the Grenade Games to a much higher level and generate positive press for the associated brands. The success of this campaign had already been emulated by other brands and sports.

"The consensus among snowboarders taking part in
the fifth annual Grenade Games last week - the
first time the event has taken place in Whistler
- was that Grenade rider Danny Kass really knows
how to hold an event. Kass said the events and
parties were better than he could have imagined,
and called it
the best year ever for the
event."

"…skaters and snowboarders can be a
little slack
when it comes to posting web content. I mean,
let's be honest here: it's a
lifestyle,
and sometimes last night's party can cause
coverage from contests and events to go live at a
glacial pace. The Grenade Games however, may just
represent a turning of the
tide.
Everywhere I click this week I'm finding ridiculous amounts of coverage from The Grenade Games and the damn thing is only getting started. Has the era of information-on-demand finally triumphed over the inherent laziness found in many shredders? It would certainly seem the way.
But the big prize goes to the Monster Energy Grenade Games Blog, which seems to have something new posted every time I click on it through the day. If you're even remotely interested in seeing the latest party shots of Danny and The Dingo, or witnessing the general madness going down at Sushi Village or elsewhere in Whistler, this is the place to visit. Keep it up Dano."
